Nazmin Choudhury has been doing charitable works for a number of years culminating in the registration of a charity called SWANSONG (Supporting Women And Newborns Supporting Other Necessary Groups). NC Law and SWANSONG support charitable works in Bangladesh where Nazmin’s family originate from. This includes providing water wells and equipment and tools to empower people to earn a living, such as fishing nets, rickshaws, tools for carpentry and other trade, and seed money for setting up small businesses.

NC Law also promotes the recycling of clothes and arranges these to be sent to Bangladesh to distribute through the project Wear in Bangladesh. We also promote funding medical treatment as Bangladesh has a very poor system for free medication and treatment. For example, caesarean operations cost in the region of between £300 to £400, and medication has to be paid for, as well any other life saving operations necessary.

NC Law is also involved in funding housing for things like roofs. The average house in Bangladesh needs 3-4 bundles of tin for roofing which can cost up to £300. We have also been embarking on large scale projects such as building houses for the poorer of society where even though they are earning, they do not have the means to complete a house. Houses of a moderate size cost in the region of £3000 – £4000 to complete.

Swansong is a charity registered at the Charity Commission here.
