Legal Internship Future Training

NC LAW presents LIFT — Legal Internship Future Training, a new initiative created to help aspiring legal professionals gain the practical experience they need to take their first steps into the legal profession.

At NC Law, we recognise that starting a career in law can be challenging. For many young people and aspiring legal professionals, gaining that first opportunity can be one of the biggest barriers to entering the profession. Employers often look for experience, yet gaining experience can be difficult without someone being willing to give you that first opportunity.

That is why we created LIFT.

LIFT is our commitment to providing aspiring legal professionals with a genuine opportunity to gain practical experience, develop their skills and take their first steps into the legal profession.

Creating Opportunities for Future Legal Professionals

The LIFT Programme provides one candidate with a three-month placement at NC Law, giving them the opportunity to experience the day-to-day workings of a legal practice and gain valuable insight into the profession.

At the end of each three-month placement, a new candidate will be selected, allowing us to provide this opportunity to a different aspiring legal professional every three months.

We believe that talent and potential should not be held back simply because someone has not yet had the opportunity to gain experience. LIFT is designed to help bridge that gap by giving young people and aspiring legal professionals the chance to build practical experience, confidence and professional skills.

What the Programme Offers

The LIFT Programme is designed to provide participants with:

  • Three months of practical legal experience
  • Exposure to the day-to-day workings of a legal practice
  • Opportunities to develop professional and legal skills
  • Insight into the different roles and responsibilities within the legal profession
  • The opportunity to learn from experienced legal professionals
  • Experience that can strengthen future applications and career opportunities
  • A chance to build confidence and develop an understanding of what it is like to work in a legal environment

We want LIFT to be more than simply an internship. It is an opportunity to get a foot in the door.

By providing a new placement every three months, our aim is to help more aspiring legal professionals overcome the challenge of gaining that crucial first experience and take a meaningful step towards a career in law.

A New Opportunity Every Three Months

To give more aspiring legal professionals the opportunity to benefit from the programme, a new LIFT intern will be selected every three months.

Our aim is to create a continuing programme that supports the development of future legal professionals while bringing fresh perspectives, enthusiasm and talent into NC Law.
